Enabling technologies
Knowledge and capital-intensive techologies, pervasive and of systemic relevance for all industrial and economic sectors. Six technologies have been identified as Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) in the European Union’s Industrial Research and Innovation Strategy and are prioritised in terms of funding: advanced manufacturing, advanced materials, life-science technologies, artificial intelligence, micro/nano technologies, photonics, security and connectivity.
They have the potential to transform existing modes of production and thus change relationships between manufacturers, suppliers, businesses, users, policy makers, and citizens.
